  • Trip Recap by Lowell

Had a wonderful season at Guadalupe. Not many people have the opportunity to come within a foot or two of a Great White shark. Countless shark encounters both above and below the water each trip. We had yellow tail, seals and yellowfin tuna alongside the Whites this year. Something special about this area of the world. We ended the Guadalupe season with large females and surprisingly a good number of males. After departing Guadalupe we turned the bow to Cedros Island, where of guests were able to enjoy and laugh with the sea lions, fur and elephant seals that line…

  • We sailed from the port of Ensenada around midnight, fully loaded with fuel, food and a boat full of excited divers.

This marks the beginning of the changing of seasons for us, we will start by cage diving with great whites sharks at the Island of Guadalupe, then head south east to the dense kelp forests of Benitos and Cedros Islands to splash around with seals, sea lions and elephant seals. Once the Northern portion of our trip is complete, we will set sail to the south where we will hopefully explore the rarely dived pinnacles of Rocas Alijos. They have been on my bucket list for years but I have yet to have the chance, hopefully this year will be…

  • It's a lot of fun working with a group of kids onboard who are having the experience of their lives diving with great white sharks – divemaster log – September 22, 2010.

Another perfect day at Guadalupe Island, but today was very special. This week we have a private charter group. Also joining us is Dr. Mauricio Hoyos who has dedicated his life’s studies to the White Sharks of Guadalupe Island. He is a wealth of knowledge and has been teaching us all about the sharks and their behavior. In the evening, he gave an interesting talk about his studies and a little of the history of Guadalupe Island. Early the past two mornings, we concentrated on sharking and the cages. We have on board several families with kids, so the first…

  • Elephant seals of Guadalupe Island – one of the most amazing "comebacks" in the world – divemaster images – 19 September 2010

It is a great privilege to be allowed to visit Guadalupe Island.  On our most recent voyage out there, we were very fortunate to get some fantastic images of resident elephant seals using a long-distance telephoto lens during a rarely permitted shoreside visit.     What made this visit all the more specia is the sad history of the elephant seal and their amazing “comeback”. American and white european fur traders first decimated the sea otter population on the west coast of North America following Captain Cook’s first visit to this part of the world and the subsequent commercial demand for sea…

Jordan Glenn The trip PJ, Gordon and I took on the Nautilus Explorer was very exciting. All the crew members were funny and nice. The crew members helped a lot. The snorkeling was very fun, the cage diving was interesting and the zodiac rides were excellent. The food on the boat was delicious. The way the meals were served was creative. The cookies were my favorite. Being in the cages was a whole other experience for me. I’m used to being in the water with a wave crashing behind me. Putting me in the cages was like putting me in…
