3 great days of diving at San Benedicto concluded! Interacting with the dolphins and the oceanic mantas was definitely the highlight for me. Amazing how friendly these wild animals are towards divers.

I’ve been diving 30+ years and this was probably one of the best dives I’ve ever done. Pods of a dozen dolphins, playing and entertaining us. Some many close encounters. And if that wasn’t enough, 4-5 Giant Mantas just circling us.

The moment that my bubbles had cleared from my entering the water I realized that I was looking into the tennis ball sized eye of a 4.5-meter Giant Manta. We hung there together motionless, studying each other. I swear that the deeper you look into a manta’s eye the deeper it looks into your soul.

Our big WOW MOMENT was swimming with a 12ft Chevron Manta, taking pictures and being in complete awe of her(?) when suddenly a whale shark appeared out of the blue. A juvenile everyone said. We all got a chuckle of how the manta reacted when the whale shark came in.

Every dive has offered us something different but most of all the Mantas. My best dive of the week was on the last day the first dive, we had everything! Mantas, Whale Sharks, at least four different types of Sharks, Dolphins (lots and lots of fish too!) all in the same view point – we have not been disappointed.
