Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2021-12-27

Yesterday we did the check-in in the navy base with success, and the silky snorkel after dinner. Today we start at Cabo Pearce, five friendly mantas were with the divers all the time, and the rockstars of Cabo Pearce are the dolphins, around 10-15 dolphins were with the divers. The second dive was as amazing as the first one, with mantas again, and this time no dolphins but around 100 hammerheads were seen by at least two groups. Cabo Pearce is giving us a really good trip end.

We dive yesterday the last two dives in Roca Partida, in our third dive our guests could see a school of 40 hammerheads, one chevron manta and one mobula. The last dive had the same conditions with white tip sharks, a few silvertips, and some Galapagos.

Today we go at 0715 to the first dive, lots of fish, a few hammerheads and the north of the rock, and a few yellowfin tuna around, white tips always resting on the balconies with huge lobsters. Second dive same conditions, no current, some Galapagos and silvertips, and a big school of jacks.

We see more humpback whales this year!

We get (I think) about 2000 humpback whales to the Revillagigedo. They first come in December and start to return in the end of April. Here they come to give birth, to mate, to fight for the beautiful coming mother humpbacks, breach, dance. They de-lice themselves as well in the warm water.

Schooling hammerheads at Punta Tosca, a Tiger shark at Roca O’Neal, 8 Giant Mantas in one dive at the Boiler and an awesome surprise at Roca Partida when a pod of about 60 False Killer Whales swam by the Explorer.
