We had our most insane surface interval today. A humpback whale calf was around the Nautilus Undersea. This little curious whale was swimming less than 5 meters away from the boat. Everyone had a chance to see him sneaking his eye to check us out! January to April is our whale season in Revillagigedo and we are having the best of it!

In one moment we are completely engulfed in a school of cottonmouth jacks, the next moment, black trevally and large yellowtail charge through and split the school to find a meal. And the tuna… holy mackerel, the tuna!! Yellowfin tuna so healthy, you don’t realize just how big they are until they come close and dwarf the silvertip sharks next to you. Absolute perfection!

The manta met us immediately doing its dance for anyone who wanted to watch. As we were transfixed on this marvel a young whale shark decided to pass through, much to the dismay of the performing manta. The whale shark passed within feet of us making for some truly unsurpassed video.

A Socorro dive trip would not be complete without at least one day diving the famous Roca Partida. Although rough around the edges sometimes, the rock always proves to be beautifully unpredictable and visually stunning.

In all of this, a good size male whale shark who turns up followed by a cloud of black jacks and silvertip sharks. They are coming by and sticking themselves towards the whale shark. Excitement goes wild by the divers, second time I have seen this.
